WebDec 7, 2016 · A student of mine has a sketch that he cannot extrude. I have looked at it and cannot find anything wrong with the sketch (ie. overlaps, disconnects). We are using PtcCreo 3.0. Here is a copy of the part. If someone could tell us why this won't extrude or even better, how we can do a check for future sketches, that would be great. WebJan 29, 2024 · This is not an appropriate use of the extrude feature to add material in the context of an assembly. In general you should avoid creating assembly features that alter the geometry of parts. There are many tools (top down design) provided to accomplish this. You can not add solid geometry to a part with an assembly feature.

WebJan 19, 2016 · Open the operation and you will find the sketch. If you need to use the sketch again, hit the sketch with right Mouse button and select "Share Sketch" (sometimes "visibility on") . WebYou don't have to exit the sketch. The problem is that you're trying to extrude a boss in an assembly, not in a part.
